About
Overview
Rodeo FX was founded in 2006 in Montréal by Sébastien Moreau as a small environment-and-matte-painting boutique. The company has expanded into a mid-large vendor with offices in Québec City, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Munich; Sébastien remains CEO and majority owner.
The studio's strengths sit in environment work, matte painting, and digital cinematography — both for prestige episodic series (Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, The Mandalorian, Foundation) and for theatrical features. Recent feature credits include Joker, Blade Runner 2049, Dune, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (legacy work), and a number of Apple TV+ originals.
Rodeo holds a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Special Visual Effects (Game of Thrones, season 6) and has been recognised at the VES Awards across both episodic and feature categories. The studio runs a substantial in-house art-department and concept group for the high matte-painting and digital-environment workload that has become its specialty.
